We are an independent family-run business committed to providing a fantastic service to the local community and those further afield. We have visitors that travel for miles to experience our Centre and all it has to offer and to enjoy the semi-rural surroundings, yet our core customer base is the local community.

We welcome and cater for all visitors from the experienced fish keeper to those new to the hobby, from families enjoying a day out to educational school trips (nursery through to A'level and beyond).

Our annual August Bank Holiday Fun Days have grown from strength to strength, with nearly 2000 visitors in 2009! Our aim is to give all local residents continuous access to the greenbelt, to give you choice and variety as well as an enjoyable and affordable visit for the whole family.

Heritage History

For many years, Heritage was a cold water centre, keeping and breeding cold water fish, cultivating water lilies and marginal plants as well as developing the site for growing tropical plants and creating beautiful gardens. Keen Marine Fishkeepers Jonathan and Fiona - fed up with never being able to find a decent Marine Retailer in the South, proudly opened the doors to the Marine Centre in December 2004 as a brand new marine-only retail shop - a new concept in fish keeping and one that was looked upon by many as a concept doomed to failure! Customers travelled hundreds of miles to visit us as we became well known in the industry and so the refreshment and snack area became established!
Well, after two major adaptations to accomodate some serious fitration equipment and a 64-aquarium critter system as well as increased fish only systems - we proved those doubters wrong.........
...........by mid 2007 we had been voted the Best UK Marine Retailer!

In December 2007, again using another existing unused out-building, we created a magnificent Tropical Freshwater Centre to cater for the majority of hobbyists in the fish keeping industry. Our aim was to bring top quality retail and class to the fishkeeping industry, showing off the hobby as desirable and rewarding to everyone. The light and airy feel of this new Centre was paramount along with the cleanliness of the aquariums. Variety of stock has never been an issue with Europes largest tropical fish wholesaler only a few minutes away from us.

Within the Tropical Centre there was a small area for reptiles. But within a few months it was obvious to us that the popularity of this hobby was huge and that the local community was in need of a quality supplier of stock and live food. December 2008 saw the opening of the new Reptile Centre with over 30 vivariums, 25 hatchling boxes and 9 aquariums for amphibians etc.

During 2009, the demand for small animals has become apparent. Again, there are no local retailers supplying quality livestock and dry goods for this area of the pet market. We had increasing number of special requests for certain animals and goods that has now led us to having a small animal area within the Tropical Centre. We can supply a wide variety of livestock, often holding on our premises animals such as ground squirrels, pygmy hedgehogs and ferrets, as well as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters etc.

Heritage continues to expand both horticulturally and within agriculture - all for the benefit of the local community. Please continue visiting this site and our little jewel in suburbia to see what we will be up to next!

Heritage Stock

Despite the diversity of our business, we continue to be one of the market leaders in the Marine Retail Industry. We pride ourselves in the quality and selection of our marine livestock and continue to have regular deliveries of stock from all over the world including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Africa, America, Australia and more. Anything we do not have in stock throughout Heritage Farm Nurseries we will always endeavour to source for you.

We are stockists of all the major brand names throughout the centre such as Deltec, Tetra, Interpet, Exo Terra, Juwel and much much more. Please contact us if you require more information.
